The Colorado River!

After eleven years of oppressing Bobby, I finally okayed the idea of a boat. Really, the Mangum family was coming for Memorial Day weekend, and I thought it would be a fun thing for us to enjoy together! They didn't end up coming, and now we are stuck with this boat.

I'm kidding!

Today was our first trip out in the boat. Bobby was back in his element. The Lemmon family was raised on the river in the summers and the dunes in the winters. I felt like I was depriving him of something all these years. The kids took right to it. Minus Tiny who has some freakish fear of water (even a melted ice cube on the floor). Buddy was especially comfortable in this new environment. It made things quite nice for me, and now the Colorado River is my friend! We went with our next door neighbors who are so wonderful to us. They are so patient and kind with my kids and such fine examples/reminders of how we should be. Joan also came along, and I'm so glad she did. She was a huge help, and the kids (and me) love having her around in the summers.

P.S. No sunburns, Mom! I used an entire bottle of sunscreen!

Just Joan!

I posted on Z's graduation, so now I feel guilty for not posting something about Joan's college graduation. I'm so proud of my baby sissy! She did it, and she did it in four years! I did it, but it took me...Well, at least I did it, right? Who's counting? I think my parents counted. They lost interest by the time I finally graduated, but this post isn't about me. It's about my brilliant, hard working sister, Joan! She's on to grad school this fall, and I'm proud of her for all of her accomplishments! Love you, Just Joan!

Candied Apple!

My brother graduated from high school tonight! The youngest of our crazy family is now one of us. I've watched this boy turn into a man in what seems like overnight. I used to call him "Candied Apple" because his head was so big and his long body was sooooo skinny. We would have to stretch the neck of his shirts out before attempting to put them on the poor child. On a sweeter note I would like to say how proud I am of Zac (not Duke). He puts up with a lot being the youngest of five and the only boy. Not to mention, he's the only one of us who has had the opportunity to live with Mom & Dad completely on his own with no back up! Being the youngest definitely has its advantages, but I can see the drawbacks, as well. He's turned out quite well, I must say. He's smart, sweet, softspoken, kind, trustworthy, athletic, and handsome! He not only grew into his head, but he grew into an awesome friend/brother/uncle!

Nuts!

This kind of thing drives me nuts, and I was floored to see it on the front page of my New York Times! It's wrong on a couple (one political and the other English) different levels, but the main issue I have is the incorrect use of "women's." It should read "woman's." This makes me crazy, but I must admit part of me liked the mistake. It shows the type of people supporting Hillary! If you are going to make a sign and hold it at a rally, make sure it's correct in all ways! You are representing more than just yourself! These types of mistakes are all over Yuma. I cringe when I see the errors painted on store fronts or printed on landscaping advertisements I find shoved in my door! Come on people! Proof read! If you aren't great at these sorts of things have a friend look it over!

Style!

I dressed Buddy up to go out on the town with me today, and this is what he looked like! This is one of my favorite outfits. I was going to save it for his first day of preschool, but I just couldn't wait!

Then I told him we were going to McDonald's, and he came out with these little gems on! I thought to myself on the way to McDonald's, "I have one kid with no shoes on and another with irrigation boots on! This never would have happened with the first two." My how things have changed.

Hair?

I would like everyone to post their opinions on Maverick's hair! I need honest answers. Is it time to cut his hair?

Daycare?

As many of you know Bobby and I have been trying to start a daycare/preschool for quite some time. The trouble is that Yuma, AZ can make things very difficult! When you want to do something legal and legitimate you are penalized by red tape and bureaucracy! It's all extremely irritating, but I hit frustration when Bobby brought this picture home the other day. So many questions run through my mind. Who names their daycare center this? Who takes their kids there? Who is the artist? Why?! Might I add, the second picture Bob took shows the home (Yes, it's a home daycare), and there is tin foil in the front window!
